Empires - Valmont

When it comes to music I can be a bit of a snob. Not because I’m one of those people who thinks music is only worthy if it’s unpopular, but generally because I just can’t stand the blandness of the state of radio-friendly music — with the exception of a select few artists.

I first heard of Empires because I went to high school/college with the drummer and we have mutual friends. I didn’t like the first couple of bands he was in, but I didn’t hate this album when I listened to it the first time. And it kept growing on me. Plus, I’m always a proponent of doing things differently, which Empires are by giving Howl away as a free download. So check it out.

There are a few songs like “Valmont” that are quite catchy and will stick in your head. If you’re into pop-rock a la Fall Out Boy/Panic At the Disco that’s just a touch over-produced, you’ll enjoy this.
