Zimbabwe cholera deaths pass 1,500 ›

The number of cholera deaths in Zimbabwe continues to increase, a World Health Organization spokesman said Monday.

As of Sunday, the outbreak had killed 1,564 people, and 29,131 cases had been reported, Gregory Hartl told CNN. These figures represent increases from numbers released Thursday that showed 1,518 deaths and 26,497 cases.

CNN’s top story for the past three days has been about the war on the Gaza Strip, where religious zealots on both sides of the conflict are spending millions of dollars to blow the shit out of each other over land that supposedly belongs to both of their gods. Protests have erupted across the world in the conflict’s wake.

Meanwhile, nearly 30,000 cases of a preventable, treatable disease have been reported and killed 1,500 in this latest outbreak and it barely registers a blip in the news cycle.

Remind me again all the benefits religion supposedly has.
