Like Marco, I hope the people who trampled this poor man were arrested and charged with manslaughter. I also hope the people who reportedly continued shopping lose a lot of sleep over this incident.

I hope they’re haunted by the face of the dying man they stepped over as they rushed into the store so they could save a few bucks and put more presents under the tree.

I hope they tell their children or whoever becomes the recipients of these gifts how much they saved when they put the value of a bargain before compassion for human life.

But most of all, I hope this man’s family accepts consolation that at least some of us hold them in our thoughts today in recognition of this morning’s display of insane savagery that took their loved one from them.
