Today’s Chicago Tribune has a pretty great Father’s Day profile of Casey Deegan, a 32-year-old man with Down syndrome — who skydives.

The written story is great, and I’m sure a bunch of people who watch the video package liked it as well. But I have already heard Casey’s story before, and the video that tells it is much more compelling than the Tribune’s version.

The best part? Beck Diefenbach, the visual journalist who told Casey’s story, was still just a lowly intern at the Naperville Sun when he made this piece.

It’s truly talented visual journalists of the new generation like Diefenbach who can save the industry.
