I think what’s most important to realize about New Orleans culture is not just that accomplishments like winning the Super Bowl are celebrated, but the lives of those who populate the city. I don’t play any instruments. I don’t even understand music. So it wouldn’t make sense for my funeral. But I would appreciate a jazz funeral so much more than people sitting around and mourning over what was lost like what is traditional in the circles I’ve been brought up in.

I hope understanding New Orleans is what Treme is seeking to accomplish, not just post-Katrina New Orleans.
