I went to go see Kevin Sites speak at North Central College tonight. He’s one of my journalistic idols, and it was incredibly inspiring to experience the passion he puts into his work in his pursuit of the truth.
I’m so happy he went on a tangent about Americans being notorious for being uninformed. It’s a shame that there were only about 75 people there to hear it…
I loved the way he put it: We’re one of the biggest superpowers, yet when it comes to people being informed, it’s almost as if we live in a third-world country.
With all of the media that’s out there to consume, there really is no excuse to be ignorant to what’s going on in the world. And no, Us Weekly and Perez Hilton don’t count.
