The Edmonton Oilers have confirmed that defenseman Ladislav Smid has contracted swine flu.
The Oilers made the announcement Tuesday night following their 3-0 loss to the Colorado Avalanche. Smid did not miss any games due to his illness, and played 19 minutes 47 seconds against the Avalanche.
There are no other confirmed cases among the Oilers players, coaches and support staff, although the team has been hit hard by players suffering from seasonal flu illnesses as well as flu-like symptoms. [via]
A full period of game time last night with the H1N1? And a fight over the weekend? That is one tough dude.
Lebron James spent two days in bed and all he had was the regular flu.
James believes he may have gotten the flu from the shot he and his teammates got recently to fight the virus. He said his two young sons have not shown any symptoms of being sick.
I think I will forgo the H1N1 vaccine and should I contract it, sweat that shit out of me like I have with past illnesses.
