I am taking Esquire’s advice and trying my luck with drinking tequila straight. I enjoy a nice glass of bourbon or Irish whiskey, but usually don’t keep it to one and end up with a killer hangover the next day.
I picked up a bottle of Jose Cuervo Tradicional respado, which at $22 was the cheapest bottle of 100 percent de agave tequila they recommended. So far, so good. I mean, this stuff is pretty complex. I’m drinking it neat, and getting citrus and oaky hints, along with a nice vanilla finish.
And here all these years I thought tequila was just a bottled hangover.
