Tonight I packed meals to be sent to Haiti for the Feed My Starving Children organization. I guess we packed enough to feed 41 kids for a full year, or almost 15,000 meals.
I’d probably be inclined to do it more if it weren’t for all the Jesus talk. Even though it’s just a bunch of fat Americans packing plastic bags of dehydrated rice, soy, veggies and chicken because they want to do some good in the world, I’m sure they tell the kids that it’s by the grace of God that they’re getting these meals. At least that’s the impression I got from the “thank you” video with the number of children who said they want to grow up to be pastors.
But at least I did a good deed and won’t have to feel so bad about sitting on a boat drinking in the sun for the next four days. Because that’s my plan starting tomorrow afternoon.
Side note: For as uber-Christy as this whole operation was, I found it hilarious that they blared Elton John and Queen. I mean, do they not know what killed Freddie Mercury?
