Max made it through surgery and the anesthesia fine. The doctor said everything went off without a hitch. We can pick him up in the morning, but he’s going to be hobbling around like a tripod for a few weeks. He’ll probably milk it for a shitload of treats and people food.
Thanks to everyone for your thoughts! I’ll be sure to let him know the Tumblrverse was pulling for him.
My dog is having surgery in the morning
He ruptured his ACL. He’s 11.5 years old. There’s always the chance he won’t wake up, but I hope he does. It’s a 3-4 month recovery time. I don’t pray, but if you do, say one for Max. Or just wish him well, I’d appreciate it. He’s a tough dog, I think he’ll pull through.

The more news you consume...

…the less happy you are in life. There have been multiple psychological studies consistently showing these results.

Huh, well that explains some things.

Finally saw (500) Days of Summer
Yeah, I’m way late to this game, especially since I had said I wanted to see it around opening day, but I saw it at the very last showing at the local theater. That counts for something, right?
The most anticipated shot of any movie, ever was probably a stretch (come on, it was January) but it certainly didn’t disappoint. It was probably one of the strongest scenes of the movie...

The Power of a Tweet →
thebikebeat:
@lancearmstrong: Good morning Dublin. Who wants to ride this afternoon? I do. 5:30pm at the roundabout of Fountain Road and Chesterfield Avenue. See you there.
What started out as a simple Tweet from his mobile phone just hours earlier turned into a Lance Armstrong frenzy when over 1,000 riders turned up at 5:30 in Dublin’s Phoenix Park Tuesday evening.
An army of Armstrong fans...

Can Atheists Be Parents? →
After six years of childless marriage, John and Cynthia Burke of Newark decided to adopt a baby boy through a state agency. Since the Burkes were young, scandal-free and solvent, they had no trouble with the New Jersey Bureau of Children’s Services—until investigators came to the line on the application that asked for the couple’s religious affiliation.
John Burke, an atheist,...
newsandbooze:
Pwnage, for real. My friend Mick was on Chicago Tonight Wednesday discussing the city’s meter privatization deal, which was pretty much done illegally. He tells the alderman what’s what. (The 11 min. mark is where it gets really good.)
Mick rules in general, and if you have an interest in Chicago politics, you should read his stuff.
Mick is such a bad ass. And yes, the 11:00...

On tequila, the morning after
David Granger and the Esquire boys were right. Good tequila = no hangover. I even broke the rules a bit and drank a beer on top of it (I’ve read you shouldn’t mix anything else with the tequila). Bed at 2:30 a.m., awake at 8:15 a.m., ready to rock my Saturday.
I think I’ve just picked my poison.
On Tequila, straight.
I am taking Esquire’s advice and trying my luck with drinking tequila straight. I enjoy a nice glass of bourbon or Irish whiskey, but usually don’t keep it to one and end up with a killer hangover the next day.
I picked up a bottle of Jose Cuervo Tradicional respado, which at $22 was the cheapest bottle of 100 percent de agave tequila they recommended. So far, so good. I mean, this...
