Oh, to be young and stupid (and violent!)
maxhell: jeffcagle: If Keith Ballard was a righty, this would have never happened. I know. From experience. properly tagged.  I once tried to adapt the wall punch into a floor punch… took like half a year to heal… If I had a sporting good in hand there DEFINITELY would have been fail. Wait, whaaaa! Twinsies! Although, I kept it at the wall. But that wall was puck-proof...

Bring it, winter
Put 15 miles in the saddle today. Averaged 18 mph. Sun was going down and temp was around 36, with a wind chill around 30. Broke out the leg warmers. Made the cold my bitch. Tell old man winter to bring it.

November 28
Fifty-four degrees in Chicagoland. Not a cloud in the sky. Twenty-five miles logged in the saddle in cycling shorts (!!!), therminal velocity jacket, brain bucket and my trusty BluBlockers. Lots of courteous motorists waving me through intersections. Might head back out after a turkey sandwich. Perfection.

Ethical Dilemma
ahlexka: So I was walking from my place to the Division Blue line stop to go to school one fine Tuesday morning, and as I was crossing the street and a man asked me if I knew my way around the Neighborhood. Seeing as how any Chicagoan gets a hard-on off knowing how to get around and giving people directions, I decided to help. “Yes, I do” “Okay great thanks, could you tell me if there is a...

MySpace
tanya77: MySpace, why do you have to suck so hard? I wish musicians didn’t use this site. It’s almost impossible to load their pages to hear their music. Until Muxtape opens itself up to everyone or I get my hands on some invites, I’m telling my musician friends to abandon MySpace for Bandcamp. I made my friend Jeremy a page over the weekend.

Tinley Park woman charged with hate crime →
A suburban Chicago woman has been charged with a hate crime for allegedly yanking the head scarf of a Muslim woman in Tinley Park two days after the shootings at Fort Hood, Texas. Valerie Kenney, 54, a bank teller from Tinley Park, appeared at the Bridgeview Courthouse on Wednesday and was released on $5,000 bail. If convicted of the felony, Kenney faces up to 3 years in prison and a $25,000...

On the best albums of the decade
Despite my stint at a prestigious jazz publication, one with such a history that James Brown let a white man interview him in his home, I am not a music critic and won’t pretend to be. I’ve read a lot about chord progressions, improvisation and chromaticism, but I couldn’t really tell you what they mean. Yet music has played a major part of my life in the last decade. I’m...

Holy Fuck! (if you're a hockey fan ...) →
excitablehonky: Chris Kuc: The Blackhawks are set to sign young stars Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews to contract extensions, a source close to the organization confirmed Monday. The announcement of the signing of the forwards, both restricted free agents after the season, is expected in the next day or two before the team leaves for a 10-day, six-game trip beginning Thursday night in Calgary....
